Creation

Brian Beckage
Early 1990's

A spiraling nebula
Cosmic web of life breeding dust
A star, a sun
A spark, a flame
Alighting a watery world
of greens and blues
Naked hues that give birth
To a crescendo of creatures
Teeming oceans spill onto the land
Into the forests, into the deserts
and out of the trees
A man enters the scene
Followed by an Eve
Disavowing their creator
Comes a new world filled
With billions and billions and billions
The product of creation
A great act by a great God
A speck in the teary blue eye of the Universe
An end to the thesis
Not quite conquering
Yet not dying
Just hanging in there
To procreate the species.
